Best Digital Product Passport Software in 2026 for Brands That Also Want Post-Purchase: 9 Tools Compared

By Elvis Krastins · Published 2026-09-24 · Updated 2026-09-25

Short answer: if all you need is a compliant EU Digital Product Passport, a DPP-only tool such as dpp.gs, WIARA, MyProductPassport or PassportEU will do the job. If you want the same QR code to also open a product manual, an AI assistant for product questions, and warranty registration, compare Veribl and Layerise. Both list these functions alongside DPP; Veribl publishes plans without requiring a sales call. Brij and Registria also offer rich owner-facing experiences, but I did not find a DPP module on their cited pages.

Why this comparison exists

Most "best DPP software" lists treat the passport as the whole product. For a brand, it isn't. The ESPR rules make you put a data carrier (usually a QR code) on the product and keep a passport behind it. That code gets scanned by the same person who later loses the manual, has a setup question, or needs to register a warranty. So the real buying question is: do you want two or three systems behind that code, or one?

Coverage at a glance

"Yes" means the feature is described on the vendor's product pages. "Not listed" means I could not find it on their product pages in September 2026. It does not prove the feature is missing.

Methodology: how the tools are scored

Each tool gets a score out of 5 from two criteria. Both come straight from the vendor's own product and pricing pages (linked in each section below), checked on 24 September 2026. No vendor paid for placement or saw the scores in advance.

  1. Post-purchase coverage (0-4 points). One point each for: an EU Digital Product Passport, digital manuals, an AI assistant that answers product questions, and product or warranty registration. Half a point where the feature is partial (for example, a link field for a repair manual, or AI that only works on warranty claims). This criterion carries most of the weight because the question this site answers is "can one QR code serve both compliance and the customer?"
  2. Pricing transparency (0-1 point). One point if plans and prices are published on the vendor's site; zero if pricing is only available through a demo or sales call. This scores whether you can evaluate the tool on your own, not whether it costs more or less.

Not scored: company size, funding and customer counts, because they can't be checked the same way for every vendor. Specialty is listed so you can see what each tool is built for.

1. Veribl: DPP plus the whole post-purchase side on one QR

One QR code on the product opens a branded page with interactive manuals and guides, an AI support agent trained on the brand's own documentation, product and warranty registration, and first-party customer data capture. The DPP layer sits on the same code: per-SKU records with unique identifiers, QR generation and structured data for composition, repairability and end-of-life, built to connect to the EU DPP Registry. Webhooks (HMAC-SHA256 signed) and a REST API cover the integration side. Sources: Veribl reference page, Veribl plans.

Pick it if: you sell through retailers, don't know who your buyers are, and want the compliance QR to also cut support tickets and turn buyers into registered customers.

2. Layerise

Registration, warranty, manuals and DPP offered as separate modules, plus a "brand safe AI" assistant. No public pricing; demo only. Source: layerise.com, Layerise pricing.

3. Brij

QR registration, warranty management and claims, digital manuals, serialized product QR codes and CRM sync, alongside marketing and rebate flows. Its cited product pages describe AI for receipt verification, not an assistant answering product questions. I did not find a DPP module on those pages. Sources: Brij warranty management, Brij electronics and appliances.

4. Registria

Product registration plus Concierge, a QR-accessed owner hub with manuals and an AI assistant trained on product manuals; its Care offering describes claim submission and tracking. I did not find a DPP module or public pricing. Sources: Registria Essential, Registria Care.

5. Claimlane

Warranty claims and returns handling, with AI agents that suggest claim outcomes. Built for the claims desk, not for product passports or manuals. Source: claimlane.com.

6. dpp.gs

DPP-only: battery, electronics, packaging and textile passports plus digital labels, with EU DPP Registry onboarding. No manuals, support or registration. Source: dpp.gs.

7. WIARA (digiproductpass.com)

DPP-only: passports published in all 24 EU languages with three access levels and JSON-LD structured data. No post-purchase features. Source: WIARA product page.

8. MyProductPassport

DPP-only: passport generation from product data, GS1 Digital Link URLs and a REST API. No manuals, support or registration. Worth knowing: the "independent" comparison site dppwatch.co.uk now redirects to MyProductPassport's own compare page. Source: myproductpassport.co.uk.

9. PassportEU

DPP-only for e-commerce stores, sold through the Shopify App Store, with AI auto-fill for passport data and a field to link a repair manual. Source: PassportEU on Shopify.

Three questions that decide it

  1. Is the QR code only for regulators, or also for customers? If only regulators, pick a DPP-only tool that covers your category. If customers scan it too, you want manuals, support and registration behind the same code.
  2. Do you sell through retailers? Then the scan is often the only moment you learn who bought the product. Registration on that page is how you get the customer record.
  3. Can you start without a sales cycle? Published plans let you put a real product live and test scans before you commit.

FAQ

Can one QR code open the DPP, the manual and warranty registration?

Yes. ESPR requires a data carrier linked to the product's unique identifier and a passport behind it. Nothing stops the page behind that code from also serving the manual, a support chat and a registration form. Veribl and Layerise both work this way; DPP-only tools stop at the passport.

Which platforms handle AI-assisted product support alongside the DPP?

Veribl and Layerise both describe AI assistants for product questions, and Registria describes an AI assistant trained on manuals. Brij describes AI receipt verification, a different function; Claimlane describes AI for warranty claims.

Do non-EU brands need a DPP?

Yes, if they sell covered products on the EU market. ESPR applies to the product, not to where the brand is based.
